I am directed by His Excellency the Governor in Council to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter of this date, in which You request to be permitted to hire for your residence a house at the rate of
One Hundred Dollars a month on the understanding that the rent be paid out of the Treasury of this Colony pending the pleasure of Her Majesty's Government.
In reply I am to inform you that His Excellency accedes to your request, on the express understanding that you will be liable to be called on to refund such rent.
